The Hunger Project’s goal is to end world hunger. Our approach is different – we see people living in hunger as the solution, not the problem. We shift the mindsets of women and men so…
Fati's Commitment to Child Well-being in Boulkon
Fati Dianda, a spirited resident of Ouagadougou in northern Burkina Faso strides through the tall grassland and out to the clearing. With her wonderful and infectious smile and drive towards a better future, Fati has emerged as a passionate leader in the fight against child malnutrition.
A mother of four herself, she leads health and nutrition efforts at the Boulkon Epicentre. Fati helps identify malnourished children and administer immediate care. More importantly, her work is about creating sustainable solutions that ensure children remain healthy, including delivering nutrition workshops and cooking classes for parents.
Her dedication stems from training with The Hunger Project (THP). “Before the training, there were things we wanted to do but didn’t know how. The THP training taught us to diagnose and manage malnutrition” Fati remarks. Through education and empowerment, Fati has become a formidable force for change.
The rewards of her work are immeasurable. “The joy of a healthy child is unmistakable. As a mother, I feel this intensely,” she says. Her unwavering efforts have not only saved lives but also reignited hope in countless families.
Beyond physical well-being, Fati is a fervent advocate of education. Proudly, she notes, “All my children attend school.” She recognises education as pivotal to ensuring her children enjoy opportunities that were previously out of reach.
Envisioning a future of nourished bodies and empowered minds, Fati is determined to brighten the prospects for women and children in her community.
Before the training, there were things we wanted to do but didn't know how. The THP training taught us to diagnose and manage malnutrition.
