One of the things that always stands out to me on visiting THP communities is the importance they place on celebration — regularly stopping to reflect and acknowledge their individual and collective achievements, and joyfully singing and dancing together. This is not to diminish the struggles and challenges they’ve faced along the way, but rather to find moments to connect and garner their strength as a group.
Today I am stopping to reflect and celebrate what you, together with the THP Australian community and our village partners, have enabled this year for the end of hunger. On behalf of The Hunger Project Australia and our colleagues globally, thank you for another year of creating dignity, freedom, confidence, empowerment, and more.
In case I don’t get the opportunity to personally thank you before Christmas, thanks also to those who gave most recently to our #OpenForBusiness Christmas campaign. Your generosity could enable us to provide 1,946 women in THP communities in Africa with microfinance loans so they can lift their families out of hunger.
We hope you celebrate over the summer with family and friends, and we look forward to your partnership once again in 2020.
Yours in ending hunger,
Melanie Noden
